BIO-BREATH is a Plug and Play device that monitors alcohol levels by means of the breathalyzer on the device.
Employers must maintain a safe work environment under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), 1993 which may include prohibiting employees from working under the influence.
Disciplinary Action: Employees violating alcohol policies may face serious consequences, including dismissal, particularly if their actions endanger others.
Most companies have clear alcohol policies in place, which in most cases is zero alocohol tolerance where there is no entry to the premises allowed.
The Bio-Breath system is set to zero tolerance by default.

Alcohol in the workplace does have serious consequences, affecting productivity, safety, and employee well-being and quality of work.
Here are some key effects and reasons for zero alcohol tolerance.
- Impaired Judgment & Decision-Making: Alcohol does reduce cognitive function, leading to poor decisions, mistakes, and accidents.
- Reduced Productivity: Employees under the influence do struggle with focus, motivation, and efficiency, possibly causing delays and missed deadlines.
- Increased Absenteeism: Alcohol-related health issues and hangovers can lead to frequent sick days and lower attendance.
- Safety Risks: In industries requiring physical coordination, alcohol impairment does increase the likelihood of workplace accidents and injuries.
- Health Concerns: Long-term alcohol abuse does lead to liver disease, cardiovascular problems, and mental health disorders, affecting employee performance.
- Legal & Liability Issues: Employers may face legal consequences if an intoxicated employee causes harm or accidents at work.
- Damage to Reputation: Alcohol-related incidents can harm a company’s image, leading to loss of customer trust and employee turnover.
- Negative Workplace Culture: If alcohol on the premises is tolerated, it can create a toxic work environment where substance abuse is normalized.
